Launch of a project to visualize the geographical distribution and range of the "Ketsuzoku"

Currently, our "Ketsu tribe research team" is continuing to conduct ecological research on a group of people (commonly known as the Ketsu tribe) who have a unique x mark on their buttocks.

There is information that they are spotted not only in Japan but also at rock climbing areas and gyms around the world, but their exact range and scale are still largely unclear.

Therefore, starting today, our research team will begin a large-scale distribution survey project to clarify the full picture of the Ketsu people, and create a "Ketsu people distribution map."

This plan involves visualizing the area of influence by marking confirmed locations in red on a map based on reports from Ketsu individuals hiding in various locations.

The period is planned to be one year.
We request that survey participants (local Ketsu people) provide data in accordance with the following guidelines.

■ Guidelines for Action (Participation and Reporting Rules)

1. Identification of specimen: Record an image in which the specimen is clearly wearing heavy-duty bottoms. If it is difficult to distinguish from the image, please provide the name of the item worn in text data.

2. Reporting location data When posting to Instagram, include the designated hashtag and location information.

Designated hashtag: #Ketsuzoku Distribution Map

Location level: Prefecture name, country name, specific climbing gym name, major rock climbing area name. (Example: "Confirmed in the Tokyo area" or "@Hidden at Base Camp Iruma")

*Warning* Reporting detailed coordinate data that could lead to the identification of an individual, such as around one's home, is prohibited.

■ Reporting Schedule

The aggregated data will be reported (with updated map images) on this account approximately once a week.

■ Special notes

In the unlikely event that you have reported something but it does not appear on the map, we cannot rule out the possibility that it was an oversight by the research team. In that case, please quietly report it via DM or similar. Only the "Ketsuzoku" can do this.

That's all. We look forward to receiving highly accurate data from everyone involved.
